This method of connection will also periodically block out the control from the connecting user, requiring the person on the host machine to click a button to "Continue sharing" with the connected client. In contrast, Remote Assistance is designed for short-lived remote connections, and requires an operator on the remote computer to participate in authentication, as remote assistance login is via PIN passwords generated by the remote host human operator. But again, it used to work fine a few months ago.The Chrome Remote Desktop allows a permanent, pre-authorised connection to a remote computer, designed to allow a user to connect to another one of their own machines remotely. The cloudready notebook is a ~10 years old Packard Bell Easynote with an intel processor. I also tried the dev channel, but as in Jeroen's case, this did not help. The hardware has not changed, and it only has cloudready on it. This leads me to the conclusion that it is probably not a problem in the network, but rather the cloudready notebook itself. Using my chromebook on his network as a host worked seamlessly, but the other way around does not. I was able to visit him yesterday, and hooked my own chromebook up on his network, while I tethered his cloudready notebook on my phone´s mobile data plan. Although there may have been a software update.

Nothing has changed in my setup, or the remote setup. I don't know when the problem started, as I don't use it very often. After I enter the code on my chromebook nothing happens, while the cloudready notebook of my father in law says it is sharing the screen. ) I don't think it's a hardware issue at all tbh, but then again. I know that hardware could be an issue, I don't have his specs yet. This will have to wait for tomorrow since I've taken up a lot of his time already and with his age and health. Next step will be to check his router settings, I need to find a way to get his password reset so I can do a bit of port forwarding. I have checked the site settings for CRD, flushed the cookies, and reset the permissions. His Cloudready version is 80.4.1 and Chromium is. I get the notification that it takes too long and he appears to be offline. When I insert his code he does get the pop-up and he allows access. I let him support me remotely and that worked ok on his side.īut I am still unable to support him though. I also let my dad reinstall CRD, I monitored over where he can share a view of his system. I did reinstall the CRD to be sure though. Yesterday I managed to remotely access another PC from my home, so on my side everything works. If you find another way to remote into a Chromebook / CR would be grateful to know what it is? thanks. Have you tried using a different google account your end? If I have time tomorrow I will test into CR and into a normal Chromebook for you but I bet it will work. I would have thought the issue is more likely your end especially as you say you can't connect to VMware CR either. Traffic on TCP ports 443 (HTTPS) and 5222 (XMPP)"Īlso have you tried using the Chrome remote app instead of within the browser itself, that's what I use because it allows me to keep my remote sessions in a new window as opposed to within a browser tab, it can be installed here If you are having problems using Chrome Remote Desktop, make sure your antivirus allows the following: "Antivirus software might prevent you from using Chrome Remote Desktop. Maybe the problem is your end and your browser needs cache clearing or something, here are a few tips from the google website: You will struggle to find another method to dial into CR / Chrome OS as it's not something that is hugely desired and when you ask anyone at google they say it's a security feature which is kind of true. I used it into a CR machine last week, I'll test that again in the morning for you, I doubt google has stopped it at all. I can confirm that the google setup is working at least into a windows machine as I've been using it all week.
